Yin Ji loose tea is in essence tea from the CNNP production which did not get processed into wrapped India cakes for National sale and distribution. The main factor of these teas is that the leaf base is smaller from more newly planted tea gardens which produced a more consistent leaf than the wild trees that the Old factories harvested from. Over the years the factory teas have become very popular and expensive, so the loose real authentic Yin Ji is a good choice for value and education in taste. It takes two or three steeps to really release the complexity of this tea, along with a fair amount of leaves (10g)
This tea represents the way old Maocha of loose tea is aged to perfection. This is a subtle tea, all the front heavy taste is gone and we are left with exquisite aftertaste of wood and musky age. The leaves when wet show their ancient tree origins and the stalks and stems also show each piece of the tree is respected and saved.
This tea made it from its factory to Hong Kong and then to Taiwan and now a bit to the USA. For the beginner or advanced drinker this Yin Ji tea represents a best leaves of this special class of old factory tea. Grab some while here. A rare treat. Yin Ji means old factory production which I would say includes some pre fermentation many years ago in the drying process and 50 years of waiting.
