1980's Menghai Camphor Tibetan export Old flavor Pu-erh loose tea
This is a richly aged tea that is partial shu (80%) as was common in the old shu process of the 80's. This Tibetan export tea was collected and aged in Hong Kong. After 30+ years this tea has turned into a true gem that delivers classic old camphor taste.
This started as a second grade tea but over the years has developed into a precious and rare tasting tea. It is uncommon to develop a taste that is smooth and woody. We call it camphor taste which really makes this tea a real cousin to the Liu Bao agar wood taste. This tea was export grade, below the Palace level of tippy buds that is the highest grade of loose processed Pu-erh tea. In the 80's the shu process was done much more slowly than today, which gave the leaves time to mature as they were dried. Well worth having on your shelf. Zhen Shang. A favorite old friend.
